I was Born in Spokane, Washington, (a Military Brat) in 1946, raised in Upstate New York and loved art since I was a child. I entered an Art Contest in 2nd grade in Anchorage, Alaska and won first prize painting a “Rainbow.”
My instructor from the 3rd grade on was W. Ralph Murray and continued until I graduated from High School in 1965 in Waterville, NY. He was an awesome artist and gave me the ability to paint watercolor and oil painting and make jewelry. He was the President of the National Watercolor Society for a very long time and he attended the Philadelphia College of Art.
I attended the University of Michigan then my family moved to Everett, Washington and I attended Everett Community College. After I married in 1969 we later moved to San Jose, California and I went to San Jose State University. I taught school in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1989 I went back to New York as a middle & high school teacher. In 1993 I moved back to Washington State & went to the University of Washington (grad school) while teaching at Lynnwood High. After graduation, I went to Alaska (Bering Straight School District), and then wound up my career at the Shoreline School District in North Seattle.
I'm now retired and love to paint and teach on my own. Beginning & intermediate classes are available by calling the Red Curtain Foundation For The Arts at (360) 322-7402 or (206) 915-1853 in Marysville, WA.
